The Chatteris Reachout Summer Camps provide free summer camps for students from low socio-economic areas in Hong Kong. The aim of the camps is to help the students overcome the unequal barriers they face by improving their English as well as key soft-skills such as leadership, teamwork, and confidence. For many of our students, the summer camps are the only summer holiday they will have before returning to school and therefore the fun and engaging activities they participate in have a substantial impact.
This year, 13 employees from Chatteris are running the Hong Kong half and full marathon to raise money so that we can send more disadvantaged students through these summer camps and provide a more comprehensive programme to our students. It roughly costs HK$1000 (£95) a week to send one student through our programme so a donation of just under £20 would fund one underprivileged student to pariticipate in the programme for one day.
