Campaign Story
Help A VET!!!
I am a disabled veteran receiving care at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System raising funds to participate in the 2013 National Veterans Wheelchair Games. The Wheelchair Games is a program for veterans who are currently receiving care through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The concept underlying the games, as a form of preventive medicine, is to promote optimal involvement of veterans who have sustained Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI), Spinal cord injury, Amputees, Paraplegic, Quadriplegic and Multiple Sclerosis by enhancing their mental, social, cognitive, physical and emotional well-being to improve their quality of life. Six-hundred veteran athletes from across the country, including Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Great Britain, will compete in “Olympic style” events for wheelchair patients. Events include archery, hand cycling, track and field events, swimming, billiards, quad rugby, basketball, table tennis, bowling, and many other similar events. The “Games” will be held in Tampa Bay, Florida, July 13-18 2013. Estimated cost for each participant is $2,000. This covers transportation, food and lodging for the 7 day trip.Help Are Team!
