Hi everyone!

We are a team of four: Matei Vaideanu, Sam Morland, Henry Morland and myself (Theo Vaideanu) trying to help the most vulnerable victims of the Ukrainian War.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦 at the beginning of this year has triggered a humanitarian crisis of a magnitude not seen in Europe since the Second World War: tens of thousands of deaths, injured people, families ripped apart, displacement of millions from their homes to nowhere.

In this context, at the end of February/ beginning of March, my son (Mat Vaideanu) and I managed to organise a vast collection of humanitarian and medical aid which we delivered at a refugee transit centre located at the Romanian Ukrainian border. The help and support we received in order to achieve that was tremendous: Lucy Tang, Glenda Batten, Peter Emery, Spencer Thomas, Lynn Drever, Guy Bodger, Oliver Huntsman, Keith Gorf, Catriona Brown, Haberdashers Monmouth School for Boys, Local Community Bayfield Wood Close Chepstow, Beam Denti Spa Chepstow, Fairlight Dental Practice Chepstow, Church Rd Dental Clinic and Implant Centre Bristol-Bishopsworth, “Vassar-Smith “ Masonic Lodge Lydney, Local Community Lydney Forest of Dean, Waitrose Monmouth, GP Medical Centre Usk -Dr Rachael Thomas-Hewartson and many, many others.

As a natural continuation of the above mentioned efforts to help the most vulnerable victims of this aggression - ill people, patients with chronic diseases under long courses of treatment who had to be moved from hospitals situated close to combat areas to other hospitals in safer areas (which are now struggling with their capacity being overwhelmed) - we have got in contact with an Ukrainian Charity from Chernivtsi - The Charity Foundation “Dorin Onofreichuk” which is working closely with the Bukovynian Clinical Oncology Centre- the local cancer hospital.

Our team, through Henry, managed to secure a fully kitted ambulance from St. John’s Ambulance Services which we are filling with medicines, first aid kits, painkillers, etc and driving it to Chernivitsi.

The cost of the trip is likely to be around £2,500-00 and we are leaving on Tuesday, 29th of June.

In the longer term the hospital is also looking for a minibus, and to replace their broken CT scanner. If we raise more than we need for our journey, then any surplus will go towards these things. And if we are unable to reach these goals in the next 3 months we will donate any remaining money to the David Nott Foundation.
