COVID 19

Hello everyone. My name is Yehudi. I am a South African citizen. I am currently an English teacher and I work in Vietnam. Here is my story (in short).

At the start of applying for passport renewal, being in Vietnam - Vietnam closed down for lockdown (approximate dates 2020 ) in February until May.

End of July- second lock down was announced which lasted until end Sept.

Open for approximate 1 & 3/4 month when the second lockdown was announced, which was much more astringent, took effect.

During the second lockdown the expiry date of my passport arrived.

Even though it was lockdown and no one had access to any of the necessary facilities, it is still my responsibility and problem.

Even though I was given the run around with much incorrect information as to the ABC in a foreign country, it is still my fault.

I lived off of my savings to live through lockdowns. So did my mom, as many other had to in South Africa.

At first with applying to return to S.A. The only flights at first which was available was expatriate flights, which a single ticket to Jhb only, was between R35 000 and R58 000. Before my mom, managed to book a ticket to bring me back to S.A. for passport application, she luckily heard of the possible lifts with regard the Covid/ re possible flight allowance to South Africa as well.

I could return at a much cheaper rate to arrange passport renewal, after the bans was lift and flights was allowed. In total my mother now had the expenses of R35 000+, this is without my return, Visa application and quarantine expenses to be allowed back into the country. (Excluding my expenses to get the necessary in place to be allowed to travel on an expired passport. I have been offered a contract and permanent position, in Vietnam.

We are looking at further expenses which all in all is going to calculate a total of R50/ R55 000,00.

If there is anyone out there whom perhaps could help donate towards my return to Vietnam I would be eternally grateful. This would help me lighten the load immensely. Working abroad has taught me so much, and one thing the Vietnamese have taught me is that it is ok to ask for help sometimes. I am humbly asking for anything you could possibly spare. No matter how small the amount, I can promise you that it will make the worlds difference to me as well as my lovely students. I miss them dearly and I really look forward to be able to go back and start working again.

I am also able to provide a full breakdown from the Vietnamese partner and Immigration office to prove what the funds would be used for, should anyone require this.

Best regards and much Love.
