Since 2021, Chiang Mai Disc Golf and Gymkhana Sports Club (founded 1898) have forged a strong relationship which has proved magnificently beneficial to all parties involved. During this time Disc Golf in Northern Thailand has grown from being almost unknown, to Chiang Mai now being a major disc golf destination with many tournaments, leagues and events every year! We feel privileged to have been allowed to play every Saturday at Gymkhana Sports Club!

In January 2024, Chiang Mai Disc Golf was further honored, as the long term members of Gymkhana voted to allow Disc Golf to continue at their illustrious club. However, a small portion of dissenting members refused to accept the results of the vote and have been attempting to throw the vote out on various technicalities. As this tactic seemed to be failing, it would appear that a more direct strategy was decided upon. During the weekend of February 24th\25th 2024, almost all of the Disc Golf Baskets, signage etc were damaged or destroyed.

Rather than viewing this vandalism as a hinderance, Chiang Mai Disc Golf sees it as an opportunity. We have been in contact with Mr. Pichet Panturat. Pichet is not only the best Thai national disc golfer (finishing 3rd in this past years Chiang Mai Open), but is also an expert metal worker that makes disc golf baskets of the highest quality. Pichet has offered to build 20 new baskets for Chiang Mai Disc Golf at a significant discount, with profits being used to donate additional baskets to local Thai schools in an effort to continue to grow the game!

All that remains is for us to gather the funds to purchase these new baskets. For this we turn to our incredible worldwide Chiang Mai Disc Golf community. Our goal is 140,000 baht which is about $3900 usd. This will be enough for the baskets as well as shipping with a bit leftover to replace other damaged materials. Any amount helps and we greatly appreciate the generosity and support from everyone! Thank you so much and we hope to see you on the course in Thailand soon!!
