Today we are reaching out to everyone in the universe of dog lovers. A few months ago we moved to china for work, to explore and to basically dive into a new culture. One day walking through a street market we found ourselves in what the locals call a “pet market”. However this was like nothing we had seen before, all kinds of animals in tiny cages all stacked up on top of one another. No food or water to be seen. Our hearts broke and just before we walked out in tears we found this tiny underfed little puppy in a cage. He could hardly get up and was saturated in urine. Without giving it a second thought, we bartered with a money hungry women and eventually we were able to buy him, but in my opinion it felt more like rescuing him. Later that day at home he had most probably his first bath and a big bowl of food. It wasn’t long and his little personality started to bloom and before we knew it he was a bright eyed little boy. This precious little boy got the name Maximus, Max for short. He has since had all his vaccinations and check ups, and at 5 months he is a very healthy growing boy.
And then… We got notified that there is an issue with our VISAs, due to troubles with our agency and were told we might need to leave china within 2 weeks. Luckily we have managed to extend our VISAs for another two months while we figure out how to get Max home. After numerous calls and emails it turns out that the costs to get a puppy of his size would cost far more than we can afford. The cheapest quote we have received is close to R90 000.00. I am reaching out to everyone, please help us get our precious Max home. All the funds raised will be used to get Max from China to Durban, South Africa. He is just the most loving, happy little boy and the thought of leaving him in China completely breaks our hearts.
Thank you to everyone helping in anyway that you can. We truly are so grateful and will keep you updated.
