Campaign Story
hey everyone, thanks for being here.
my cat, lucky, has been sick for the past 2 months. he used to be a huge foodie, and would chase everyone around the house, demanding food all the time. because of that, he got the nickname "chonk".
ever since he got sick, he could barely eat because of the pain. even drinking water is painful, and just last week, he stopped being able to eat or drink by himself. in just two weeks, he lost more than 2kg, and no longer looks like the chonk we once knew. he barely has energy to stand by himself, and because of that, he was been soiling his bed multiple times a day, because he cannot walk to his litter box. we syringe feed him water and liquid food, and tears roll down his face every time. we can't even begin to imagine how much pain he is in. we can tell that he is hungry all the time, because he still walks to his food bowl frequently, and just sits there looking at his food. the location of his food and water bowl seems to be the only place he remembers, as he has become very disoriented and confused. we often find him stuck in certain corners of the house that he has never explored before, unable to find his way back to his bed. he wanders around the house aimlessly, something that he didn't use to do (because he is a lazy cat).
the vet diagnosed lucky with early stage kidney disease, and told us that he is unable to eat because most of his teeth are rotten. she recommended that we put him under general anaesthesia, and surgically remove all of his rotten teeth. due to his old age, going under GA is risky, but we decided that it was a risk worth taking, because we wanted him to be able to eat and drink again.
during the surgery, the vet found out that lucky is suffering from lockjaw (tetanus), which is preventing them from opening his mouth fully during the operation. she recommends that we send him for a CT scan, in order to find the source of the problem. the CT scan costs about $2500, and surgery afterwards for the lockjaw would cost at least $3500. This is not inclusive of the cost of hospitalisation, general anaesthesia and the dental procedure, which cost about $1500 in total. the total cost needed for lucky's treatment is at least $7500.
because we are unable to afford the CT scan and further operation, lucky is now under observation in the hospital, recovering from his dental procedure. we are planning to seek a second option at another veterinary clinic, where the prices are hopefully cheaper.
if you are able to, please donate so that lucky can get the treatment he needs. i am unable to pay for his treatment without wiping out all of my savings, so any amount, big or small, would be really appreciated.
thank you :(
