Hello all,
my Name is Tobi from Germany, living in the Czech Republic since more than 10 years and I am working in an IT company. In my free time, I am trying to get involved in voluntary/charity work to help others.
Due to the cooperation between my Employer and a Charity Organization, I had the opportunity to meet a Paralympic Sport Athlete, representing the Czech Republic, who I became friends with (more than 5 years now), supported and went with him to Spain to participate at the European Championship 2021 and now would like to support to achieve his dream and participate at the World Championship 2022 in Brazil.
About the Athlete:
Personal story -->
In 1994, at the age of eight, I was hit on the sidewalk by a car driven by a drunk driver. He caused me a serious injury to the cervical spine, so I relied on a wheelchair and breathing apparatus. This was followed by several difficult operations at the University Hospital in Motol. After subsequent rehabilitation's at Hamz Hospital in Luž, I started training bocce (petanque sports for severely disabled wheelchair users) in 2001 and within a short time I started participating in national league tournaments. From 2005 I was a regular member of the shortlist of the Czech national team in bocce until 2015, when I ended up with respiratory problems in the hospital for a long time and I had to interrupt the boccist loss. Since 2019, when I started playing again, I have won everything in the Czech Republic in bocce, I have also started in several European cups, where I finished 2x second place and 1x 4th place. The peak of the season in 2021 was the December European Bocce Championship, from where I won a silver medal, and once again became one of the best Boccists in the world.
I graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Mendel University in Brno and obtained an engineering degree. Outside of my sports career, I managed to get married, I have sons Tomáš and Lukáš. I also play chess, I like traveling and quad biking.
