I hope this message finds you safe and well, wherever you are around the World.
There’s no doubt that these are testing times for most, but we are hopeful that “this too shall pass”, and we are looking towards the brighter, lighter days ahead.
The purpose of this campaign is to make Mikulici Nature Park even better for our returning friends, and new guests, by providing more comfortable facilities and accommodation, and enhancing the natural environment.
Currently we do not have enough tents for those that need shelter, nor enough space for vans, so we would like to build some new cabins so more people can enjoy this special place.
We have a target to get all the work done, which is the end of August, when we are hopeful that the situation will have calmed down. We plan to celebrate with a mini-festival, “Wildstock”, for all the friends of the park we have made over the years.
The ethos of the park has always been to offer a safe harbour (or Sigurna Luka, as we say here in Croatia) providing water, rest and information free-of-charge for those travelling through.
We would like to continue with this model, however, in order to provide a more comfortable experience, and to extend this to more people, we need to invest in some key areas.
Hence, we are reaching out to our community to help us in raising the necessary funds, which are as follows:
(I have broken down the estimated costs, in case there is something in particular that you would like to contribute to)
-an entirely new solar/wind power system big
enough to provide power to the park (3kw) €6580
A solar/gas hot water system downstairs so that
people can actually have a warm shower (important in the winter!). €500
A fully-functioning toilet/shower for guests, an
eco- sewage system downstairs water supply to the park for cold showers and
drinking/cooking. €700
New tools including; a bush-cutter, new
chainsaw, 18v cordless drills/saw/grinder. €1610
A decent bicycle tool kit and bicycle
work-stand. €560
Materials,
parts and labour. €777
Perhaps, most importantly, Marko needs a couple of quite expensive injections for his knees so that he can keep on doing what he does!
The image you see at the top of the campaign was taken on New Years’ Day this year. It was the first time Marko had been up to the park for 2 years, it took blooming ages, but it was totally worth it for the smile!
So,if you could support us in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
Even sharing the campaign would go a long way to helping us achieve our target, and every little counts, as they say!
Feel free to add people to the campaign as I can’t remember everyone who's passed through or don’t have them on Facebook!
In the meantime, we would like to extend the invite to you and your friends to drop by when the opportunity allows, and even lend a hand in preparing the space. We would love to see you.
Much love,
Marko, James and the dogs

Hi Marko, We stayed at your place twice last year. Alejandro and me were traveling towards Central Asia on our bicycles with our dog Scotty. We eventually went to Kyrgyzstan and arrived home by bicycle and train just in time before the lockdown in Belgium. Anyway we really enjoyed meeting you and staying at your beautiful place! We wish you guys the best of luck with your wonderful project. Cheers Céline

Stayed at the park at the end of my Croatian Long Distance Trail thru-hike in 2019, had a blast with James and Marko. Really cool people :) Wish you all the best with the campaign.

I stayed here for three miserable weeks in October 2019, and completely reinvigorated my art, my passion and my love of life! Not an exaggeration!!! Also, what a steal eh, tenner for unlimited access to one of the most beautiful spots in Europe!
