Campaign Story
This project is to help Meghan, a beautiful 14 year old, who has been diagnosed with ALL, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is in treatment now, and it is predicted that she will have up to 3 years of chemo before she triumphs over this cruel disease. Meg has a single mom, who currently drives her 3 hours roundtrip almost daily to get treatment, not counting the emergency runs to the hospital when things are not going smoothly. This week was especially difficult, as they had to run to the ER for a high fever, headache and many other complications. There are so many expenses, starting with gas, tolls, car insurance, and normal living costs. Right now, Meg's mom cannot work due to this schedule.
Meg is a gifted honor roll student who can't attend school this year because of the treatment, though she's trying to maintain her grades during all this. All of this creates tremendous anxiety and fear for the future. This little family really needs our help, so that they can pay for living, getting to treatment, auto repairs as they are needed, and other living expenses. There is no money for necessities, never mind things like clothing, outings, or extras. Anything that we can do for Meggie will help her (and her mom) to deal with the stresses and anxieties of this situation, and we hope it will help Meg recover faster. They say positivity is the key to beating this illness, so we have an opportunity to create some of that!
Thank you for helping fund a future for this lovely girl!!

Update ,June 14, 2015
Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 01:56 pmSorry about the long overdue update. She's feeling pretty well lately, dare I say it? She is in a lighter phase of chemo now called delayed intensification, and doing well, walking and eating better, etc. After this she'll go back into interim maintenance, which has 2 parts. That's the phase. . . . .

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:21 pmShe is feeling pretty good, eating and walking on her own. We are so proud of her hard work to catch up schoolwork (which is pretty advanced for her grade, so it's a big job). She LOVED all the birthday cards and appreciates all the good wishes and prayers so. . . . .

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 02:30 pmShe is finally home (at midnight last night) from her most recent round of chemo. Instead of 3-4 days, she is spending 8-9 days each time in the hospital every two weeks! This is due to her body holding the chemo in and not clearing it for a longer time. . . . .

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:40 pmI wanted to thank everyone who sent cards or gifts to Meghan. They were overwhelmed by the amount of cards and gifts she received. It really made her day a happy one, not only to receive so much but to see the kindness in all of you. Thank you, it

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:29 pmShe is home this week after 9 days in the hospital, which should have been 3 or 4. After chemo it took 9 days for the drugs to clear her body, so she had to stay, hooked up to iv's, til her numbers were good. So she's finally home, after. . . . .

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:28 pmShe's back in the hospital for scheduled chemo. Great news: the feeding tube is OUT, since she's been eating pretty successfully lately! We are ecstatic about this. Meg still has many challenges in front of her, but this is a very important quality of life issue! This girl meets life

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:26 pmMeg is home from the hospital. This time it looks good. She had her first interim maintenance chemo, and did pretty well. Nothing too serious for side effects...today she feels good - is even having a friend over! She is once again trying to eat a little, and her goal. . . . .

Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta at 04:24 pmUpdate on Meg:She is home again, after a week in the hospital and tons of tests. Nothing was really solved, but she is feeling a bit better. Her count is coming up, so she should be able to get a chemo treatment later this week, which has been delayed due. . . . .

We got word of Meg's upcoming 15th birthday and current fight with leukemia from Marge Gales whose daughter is a good friend. Diana decided to send out a note here in New Hampshire. As a retired nurse I want Meg and her mom that I know their suffering seems overwhelming at times but to hang in - have faith that your healthcare team will and work hard to stay positive.
