Hi, I'm Maki Yamazaki and I'm a musician, artist and games developer living in sunny scotland! 'Made in a Day' is my 4th EP release and it's something of a special album to me. And before I continue, if you haven't yet, have a listen to it here. It's pay-what-you-think-it's-worth, and is free to stream on my bandcamp. Go on, enjoy yourself.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
Getting back on track, 'Made in a Day' is a seven track, riot-grrrl / queercore explosion of brain goo and too much caffiene, whilst I rediscover my punk roots.
You see, for a several years now, I've been working hard on my solo project 'Dr. Carmilla' - a concept music project about a retrospective-futurist, lesbian vampire in space and her struggles with love, death and immortality.
Having put Dr. Carmilla on haitus, I'm now working on all the other music that I've been meaning to write and record for the past 5 years! 'Made in a Day' was just that - written and recorded in only 24 hours. But now I have the perverted desire to add some more tracks!
TAPE, YOU SAY...?
Currently, the EP is only avalable for download, but I'd really love to finally release it on physical media! And, being a child of the 80's, I've always dreamed of seeing my music being released in tape format. So, naturally, releasing it on tape before doing a CD release seemed to come natural to me, for some reason.
RAD PERKS
As a very ultra-special perk for lovers of retro media, I've decided that the extra tracks that I'll be recording will not appear on the download or CD, but will be released instead on the cassette tape version! The EP is currently 7 songs long, but with the addition of more songs, I guess you could classify it as the 'album' version! The cassette itself, will also not be of your typical black or white garden variety, but in extra-lovely pretty, beautiful colour! Not an item to be missed, it will only be available in a limited number of copies!
As the minimum amount I'm looking to raise is quite small, I'm offering only a small selection of perks: Credit in the liner notes (which will be found on the booklet/cover which comes with the tape) and, obviously, the chance to grab one of these very gorgeous tapes!
ABOUT MAKI
Maki Yamazaki is a games developer, musician and comic artist living in the sunny metropolis of Glasgow, Scotland. She probably would’t be able to tell you what the weather is like at the moment, though, because she’s almost certainly too busy locked away in her studio, Silvana Laboratory.
Part raging workaholic, part non-monogamousaurus, she’s also queer, trans, grey asexual, genderqueer and thoroughly nerdy.
She enjoys sci-fi, awesome narratives, feminism, peppermint tea and writing biographies in third-person. Playing some twenty five-odd instruments and still finding the time to get a few hours sleep a night means that it’s possible that she’s actually an elaborate experiment in cloning.
If she ruled the world it would shortly thereafter be taken over by cats.
