Campaign Story
LOGLINE
While waiting for a passport photo to be printed, two friends from diverse backgrounds examine the state of their friendship and explore what having a Singaporean identity means to them.
THE STORY
Go Home follows two young adults who have been friends since secondary school, Kyra, a Singaporean, and Jamie, an Indonesian, as they make their way to a gig of their favourite local band. They stop by a photoshop for Kyra to take a passport photo where Jamie finds out that Kyra is planning on leaving Singapore to work overseas. Over the course of the night, Kyra and Jamie question where their friendship stands and learn about their dependence on each other.
OUR MESSAGE
Using themes and motifs on home, identity, local music, and friendship, and set against Singapore's local landscape, Go Home explores the struggle of finding a sense of belonging that people living in Singapore may face, and how we come to terms with it. Such struggles are especially relevant now with increasing discrimination due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through this film that follows two friends on a night together, we hope to encourage everyone to have more empathy for others of different backgrounds. We also aim to foster an inclusive and harmonious society in an organic way.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
As students and aspiring filmmakers caught between the global pandemic, it has become tougher to financially support our film and make it a reality. However, we managed to pull through and produce the film! It is now in the post-production stage.
Though the film has already been produced, with your help, we can ease some financial burdens and create a film that is even more meaningful for our community. Your donations will contribute to:
- Talent fees
- Location fees
- Meals for our cast and crew
- Transportation for our team and our equipment
- Equipment rentals
- Props
- Music licensing fees
- and other production needs
If you feel called to, we ask for your support by backing us or sharing our page through your socials. Any form of help or donation is greatly appreciated!
