Campaign Story
Storm Eva battered the region on Boxing Day 2015 and shocking scenes unfolded as floods ripped through towns and villages, destroying homes, businesses and livelihoods. In Todmorden, many homes were hit in Walsden, Lydgate, Burnley Road and Halifax Road, alongside much-loved landmarks including the Hippodrome Theatre. It's the worst we've seen in years.
Our local council has in place a grant system which we have been granted and as much of the work is now completed and we are living back in our property theirs still two resilience works still to be completed 1. Water pump to help keep the water levels low enough as it enters in the cellar 2, moving of the electricity supply
And with funds not available and this grant is now coming to an end with the deadline 30th September 2017 all work must be completed and invoices in by this time we can't raise the money in time! We have try'd profoma invoices or for the council to pay direct but this is something they are not willing to do
We would like to ask for your help in raising these funds and once they have been completed, inspected and the invoices paid we will donate this money and any moneys over this target to two charities the children's cancer fund and the British heart foundation
