I sponsor a 13 year old boy named Xhuliano. He lives in Albania with his parents and two younger sisters (11 & 4).
In a recent letter from Xhuliano, he informed me that his family has been without power for an entire year. It seems that they have probably tried many things, but have not been able to find a solution to this problem. In this letter, he was basically crying out for help from me. Typically, sponsored children don't ask their sponsors for extra things, but I'm positive that this was his last resort. Here is his exact quote from the letter:
"Our family is concerned about a problem, which I want to share with you. So, we have about a year that we do not have electric light at home. I ask you could help me to have light at home because my dad is not able to pay the connection electricity contract. I, Xhuliano, am asking for this help because I can not just sit in the dark."
Electricity is something we definitely take for granted here. When the sun starts to set, we flip a switch and continue on living. For a family in poverty, life slows down dramatically at about 8 p.m.
I only need to raise about $150 for Xhuliano's family to have electricity for an entire year. Every little bit will help.
Thank you!

Thank you for those that have already donated! I can't imagine living without electricity for so long. Having to cook over a fire, do homework before it gets too dark or by candlelight, and going to bed simply because there isn't much to do in the dark.

We think we are inconvenienced when the electricity goes out for a couple of hours? Imagine living without any of the comforts electricity provides for an entire year. I am willing to give up a couple of my small wants to help meet this family's needs.
