Campaign Story
SolarLEAP works to provide low-resourced communities in Myanmar with cost effective solar and IT solutions. SolarLEAP is excited to be partnering with two new projects in this upcoming season to provide students with new opportunities to learn!
Our first project for the funding goal is with Sprouts Foundation who supports a school called Ta Tine Shae in Mandalay, Myanmar. Over 500 students will be given access to offline educational content equipping them with IT and English skills via the use of 60 tablet computers and a power solution. A Digital library consisting of 13,000 hours of educational content, on-site training, on-going IT support and on-going education practitioner support. The local teachers will be provided with support to not only use the new technology but to effectively enhance student learning.
Our second project for the funding goal is with The Karen Student Centre (KSC), a dormitory and high school located in Hpa An Town, Karen State, in southeast Myanmar. KSC provides an opportunity for low-income and underserved young people to attend high school, through subsidizing residential and educational costs. Students at KSC are from surrounding villages and attending KSC is their only hope of attaining a high school education. Solar LEAP is committed to supporting KSC with 15 computers, a digital library, on-site training, on-going IT support and on-going education practitioner support.
What makes Solar LEAP different in IT for Education projects? We are providing support to 5 schools in Myanmar today and are setting up local networks all around Myanmar. We are partnering with international and local content providers to ensure that we are helping to provide feedback and connections from the schools directly to the providers of the content. To this end, we are striving to build the capacity of local schools and teachers in Myanmar in order for them to achieve success on their own.
SolarLEAP is committed to providing KSC and Ta Tine Shae with these incredible learning opportunities and we need your help! Please donate to support these students, teachers and communities to access their educational potential! Together, we can give these students an opportunity to learn, grow and succeed!
