HOT RC – Comrades Training Camp 2022

Comrades Marathon - the race of races!!! People are glued to their tv's the morning of this big national race in South Africa which makes it a privilege to be part of.

As you are aware Comrades Marathon is on the 28th of August 2022 this year. We have a training camp for our elite athletes in Dullstroom 8 weeks prior to Comrades Marathon. We have not had the privilege to secure a Sponsor for our athletes this year because of the pandemic and other challenges that our country is facing. We are hoping to raise R 320 000,00 to ensure that the athletes attending the training camp can have an opportunity to compete against the best in our country. Our athletes are training hard throughout the year, and they are goal set to get Gold Medals and even podium this year 2022.

Being recognized as the Coach-of-Coaches some of his athlete’s achievements are as follows:

2001:Andrew Kelehe winner of Comrades Marathon, and first man to get 10 Gold medals consecutively.

2013:David Gatebe won the Two Oceans Marathon.2015:Gift Kelehe won the 90^th Comrades Marathon.

2016:David Gatebe won the Comrades Marathon, breaking the long-standing Russian record (since 2007) by 4 minutes.

2016:South African team represented by amongst others, Gift Kelehe, David Gatebe and Bongmusa Mtembu, won the 100km World Championships in Spain – Bongmusa finished second overall.

2017:Prodigal Kumalo won UCTC 100km Trail Run over Table Mountain twice and broke the record.

2018:Ann Ashworth won Comrades Marathon 2018, whilst Gordon Lesetedi got his first gold medal (6^th position), David Gatebe (8^th position) and Gift Kelehe (9^th position) and Prodigal Kumalo (11^th position).

2019:Ann Ashworth got her 2^nd gold medal in Comrades (4^th position), Gordon Lesetedi got his 2^nd Gold medal (9^th position), Siya Mqambeli got his 1^st Gold medal (10^th position).

As chairperson and coach of HOT, John is preparing the present Elite team for the prestigious Comrades Marathon in 2022 to those prestige’s Gold medals and intends to win the coveted Overall Team Prize.

John remains committed to the support of athletes under his guidance and aims to provide them with competitive advantage and support through his holistic lifestyle coaching methods to unlock and improve on their potential and encourage performance excellence.

John Hamlett, a well-known Ultra distance coach, offers online training programmes for those interested in running their first Half Marathon, Marathon or Ultra Distance Marathon.
