Hi All!

This is Ildiko, younger daughter of Pal and Iby Katona. As you probably know, my parents are missionaries to the Balkans, living in Albania at the moment.

About three weeks ago they developed flu-like symptoms, so they self-quarantined. The first 10 days it was Mom who wasn't feeling well (fighting fever and fatigue). Then after about 10 days, Dad took to bed and a medical doctor friend of theirs took action. They had blood tests with PCR test included. For both my parents the PCR test came back positive and for Dad the lab results also showed infection. Thankfully, they were not hospitalized, instead the hospital went to their home, so to speak. The doctor said that Dad's right lung was functioning only at approx. 30% and his left lung wasn't fully functioning either. Both of them were immediately put on strong IV antibiotics that the doctor administers to them every morning and evening. Dad also had an IV antibiotic at noon. He was still able to breathe easily, he just felt more and more tired every day. A few days later they did control lab tests and Dad's results were even worse than the initial test showed. After consulting with other specialists, another antibiotic was added to his treatment. Additionally, he was also provided with an oxygen tank and nasal tube in order to help improve his oxygen saturation levels. He did say that he felt better with the additional oxygen flow (evidenced by his ability to communicate with us again). As of now, they are still being treated and taken care of by their amazing Albanian church family.

Their plan was to drive home to Hungary the first week of December. However, with both of them still being weak, driving such a long distance is not an option. Flying home is not an option, either, as they do need the car when in Hungary. Dad said that he would like to have someone fly to Albania, so that person could drive them to Hungary.

We, as a family, are asking for your help to cover the costs of their treatment and the airfare of their driver. We know that they are loved by many, so we are offering a chance to be a blessing to them with however little you can afford. We pray that God will multiply the seed you sow.

Be blessed!

Ildiko and siblings
