COVID-19 RELIEF

CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA WEST COAST PENINSULAR

Emergency Appeal for our vulnerable and people in need.

This is an emergency appeal asking members of the community in the public and private sectors, both locally and International, to support our campaign in supplying aid to the homeless and vulnerable who live in densely populated communities.

Our Story:

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the people in our community were already going through tough times. Most of them living from hand to mouth where possible and others going without. Tourism had kept the community afloat and people employed.

Almost overnight, COVID-19 radically changed life as we know it.

We are in lockdown, businesses are closed and tourism is non-existent. There is no work which means no income and our people are going hungry. Our Government resources cannot keep up with the demand to provide food to the children, elderly, homeless and unemployed. Our undocumented foreigners are also stuck in this lockdown and have nothing, no income, no place to stay, no food and nowhere to turn.

Since the lockdown began, we have provided more than 1500 food hampers to those in need through the kind generosity of private donations but that is insufficient compared to the need we are currently faced with. 35 homeless men and women have been placed in a temporary shelter, being fed and cared for daily. Our children attending public schools are offered food by the schools’ nutritional feeding scheme only twice a week. And our Early Childhood Development Centres are closed which means that those children which were in attendance now do not receive that daily meal. We are now facing an unprecedented need for assistance.

The homeless and vulnerable in our towns need help,

perhaps more now more than ever before.

Your help will keep people fed, housed, supported and safe.

What you can do:

Your donation will go towards supplying each family in need with a basic food hamper (Approximate Cost R900 per hamper = $45) to feed a household of four people for a month.

We simply do not have the additional funds to do this on our own and so we are imploring you to help us help our community and get our people through this difficult situation. Every day that passes, the number of people in need of urgent help with food increases.

We remain committed to continuing our work with wisdom, passion, and purpose, with our eyes fixed on Jesus. We created this campaign for everyone to contribute at various impact levels.

Your contribution will help us bring lifesaving services to those who need it most right now. You will help our people know that they're valued, and loved by us, and by God, no matter their circumstances.

If you are unable to financially contribute, all we ask is that you share our story so that we can spread the word. We are all in this together.

Thank you for your support during these difficult times and reaching out to help us help the most vulnerable in our society.

Please do all take care and follow government guidelines. The more we can reduce the spread of the virus the better for all of us.

Warmest wishes and much Cape Town love.
