Campaign Story
Hi! We're a group of students from Temasek Polytechnic working on our Final Year Project titled "Booking".
ABOUT THE FILM
GENRE:
Drama
LOGLINE:
A poverty-stricken taxi driver must operate a mobile brothel during the pandemic crisis or else he cannot feed his family.
SYNOPSIS:
After the death of his wife, a poverty-stricken taxi driver, Hoon, struggles to pay off debts he took to pay for the hospital bills, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, he must operate a mobile brothel along with a young prostitute, Xiao Yan, so that he can stop the debt collector’s harassment and protect his daughter, Mei. However, it is dangerous for him to leave his daughter alone at home, so he must always think of other ways to keep her close to him... Even during work hours.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:
This film is made to show the sacrifices people would have to take in order to survive this pandemic. What’s more intriguing in the story is that it focuses on two characters who take up the lower end of society’s occupations. Desperation is much more prominent in these characters as they must do whatever it takes to survive this pandemic, either be it for their family or themselves. This film is important to me to show the struggles of the lower socio-economic status during these tough times. Their jobs may not be fruitful or respected upon, however, they are still humans, and we should bring light to the lives of these people as they have their own problems that everyone else faces. Unfortunately, they do not have the luxury of solving their issues easily likely due to their past and what led them to do these type of jobs in the first place. I hope this film educates people to at least think before judging others and to reflect on oneself. Be grateful for the things you have and appreciate the people who brought you there.
WHERE WILL THE FUNDING GO TO?
The funding will be poured into the various departments within our total film budget. Some of which would be for equipment, casting, art, as well as for the welfare and wellbeing of our crew and cast members.
As we're a group of student filmmakers, we appreciate every bit of support given to us in order to make this film. Every little amount goes a long way to help us achieve our goal of making this film to the best of our capabilities.
