The Breaux Bridge Junior High band has been brought back to life, well, sort of. We have a new band director, a classroom full of new aspiring musicians and one big problem: No low brass section! Due to significant cost factors, instruments of this nature are usually given through the school as a rental. Since 2016-2017 is the inaugural year for the BBJH Tiger Band hand-me-down instruments are unavailable. This information was only recently given to parents such as myself and we are fast approaching an instrument deadline!
The euphonium is my son's choice instrument. As much as I would like to afford one on my own I cannot. New euphoniums cost anywhere from $1,500 to over $8,000 depending on the brand! My hope through this fundraising effort is to humbly accept donations that will enable the purchase of a new Yamaha 321s euphonium plus basic necessities that extend the life of the instrument such as valve oil, a cleaning pipe, and a cleaning cloth. This fair-priced model is made with the intermediate student in mind but produces a quality sound suitable for even some professional players. I am choosing this particular instrument as a solid future investment based on much research and the promise of a continued commitment in the music program from my son Cameron.
The gracious gift you offer will not only aid to support my son in his musical endeavors but can also help support the growth of our new band program and foster a love of music through instrumentation for years to come in future students. All money raised above the instrument cost will be given to the band director, Mike McFatter, to use as he sees fit within the band program. I will forward your kind gesture with one of my own by donating the euphonium to Breaux Bridge Junior High at the end of Cameron's use. I sincerely wish this horn gives multiple students a lifetime of fun, memorable experiences like those I had as a band kid.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR MONETARY DONATIONS AND INITIATING THE GIFT OF MUSIC IN CHILDREN'S LIVES!
With sincerest thanks and abundant blessings,
Mackenzie and Cameron

Update 2: 9/17/16 FAQ's
Update posted by Mackenzie Ward at 07:12 pmThe school should have instruments. Why don't you use them? The band's program is new. The instruments used in past years weren't taken care of while in storage. They need to be seriously repaired/replaced. Student use is not currently available.Surely there's a local music store around. Why don't you rent to. . . . .
Update 1: 9/16/16
Update posted by Mackenzie Ward at 07:49 pmI have found a pre-owned but well taken care of Yamaha for sale, priced at $1,900. It comes with the case and also the necessary cleaning kit. The overall goal for this fundraiser will stay at $2,500. Any money raised over the instrument cost will be given to the BBJH
