Ambers Dream and Staying off of Social Security

Hello!

My name is Amber. I'm almost 31 (oh my time flies) and have been collecting baseball cards for 25 years. Just recently I have started trying my hand at selling cards on Ebay. I'm having some luck, but I really, really enjoy it. It has been my dream forever to have a business.

Those who have known me, have known my bubblegum, comic book, berry selling, etc ideas since I was little. I don't think it has ever been the desire to "get rich", but just the thrill of interacting, meeting peoples needs/wants, and with sports cards in particular it's about catching that childhood dream. Cheesy, I know, sorry, but not sorry.

Now on the otherside of things, I would like to stay off government assistance for as long as possible.

Why is that a thought??

I was born with a genetic disorder called Diastrophic Dysplasia. The main effects are stature, scoliosis, clubbed feet, and the cartiledge dissipates at a quicker rate. I used to walk, used crutches and now a wheelchair, but this isn't about a pity party. It's about me keeping my independence as long as I can.

I currently and have for the last 9 years worked full-time. I plan on doing that for awhile, but I notice sitting at a desk my hips, shoulders, back and muscles get sore/stiff every day. Sometimes it feels like I'm pitting two quality of life needs against eachother. Financial independence (paying my bills!) and physical longevity. (I am imagine this is what construction workers feel, you guys are awesome btw)

Costs of selling on ebay monthly:
24.95 store fee (19.95/month for a year)
Ebays 10%
Sleeves for cards
Shipping products; envelopes/tape
And of course...cards!

My real goal to currently raise is $239.40 for the year long store subscription. Just so I can try my hand out and become more established without constantly battling the fees.

Ideally another 200-500 for more cards and supplies.

My school background is in Business Management and Accounting. My career history has been in Accounting line...reconciling, inventory, bookkeeping, payroll. So, this isn't a complete stretch for me, but I admit, it will be an adventure!!
