Campaign Story
I am looking for funding to purchase an adapted mobility bicycle for our family. I have had several “odd” health issues which no longer allow me to work. I gave up my career as an elementary special education teacher due to these issues. I have had a kidney removed, 2/3 of my right lung removed, a full hysterectomy, and on and on. Between surgeries, I had genetic testing performed, and it showed I am HLA-B27+, which causes arthritic conditions which also impair my healing and ability to move meaningfully. Needless to say, I have gained a significant amount of weight due to medications and my inability to move as I once did. While waiting (over 3 years) for my SSDI to be approved, I lost both my home and my car. Thankfully , a good friend is assisting with my current rent. I am still in need of a vehicle to run errands. I found these electric bikes and thought it may help me solve two issues - having a vehicle and getting some exercise. My lung capacity is very impaired so I will need an electric motor to assist when my body can not. I’ve checked and the bike can be fitted for winter by changing out the tires. It comes with a cover as I have no garage and a kryptonite lock to secure it. I appreciate you for reading this. I hope you find my campaign for a bicycle worthy of your donation. Thank you.
