Campaign Story
As a family who has gone through Childhood Cancer, Christmas takes on a new meaning for us. Our 4-year old boy Damien, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2018 just before his 2nd birthday. After 2 years of treatment at the Paeds Oncology Ward at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), he finally entered remission in August 2020.
In these last 2 years, it is living with gratitude that has given us the ability to accept whatever challenges and still find joy and goodness in this journey. Christmas is a time for us to reflect and be thankful for the good in our life. From our place of gratitude, we keep in mind the children who are still fighting their cancer, especially during this Christmas season.
About our campaign "A Christmas To Remember''
Spending Christmas in the hospital can be lonely for children with cancer. Due to their compromised immunity, these children will not have the opportunity to see the christmas lights and decorations in the malls or along the streets.
We decided to start this personal fundraising campaign "Á Christmas To Remember" to gift the children at the Paeds Oncology Ward at KKH with an experience to remember. We are not giving presents, but instead we will use the funds to fill the ward with the magic and warmth of christmas lights and decorations. We hope this will bring smiles to the children and a sense of hope and joy to their families.
If you are doing ok this Covid period and would like to donate to a charitable cause this Christmas, we'd like to invite you to join us in gifting to these children a beautiful christmas experience despite being stuck within the hospital walls. Feel free to fund any amount comfortable for you. Any excess funds not used for this year will be rolled over to next year's Christmas Fundraising project.
