Welcome to :

EL ZONTE HEARTS UNITED

We are a grass-roots organization that provides aid to the local community of El Zonte, El Salvador.

Our connection to BITCOIN BEACH is a vital part of our charity work, as they have been providing labour, paid in Bitcoin, to our construction crew. The success of the Bitcoin team here in El Zonte is a story unto itself. Suffice to say that this community is poised for a beautiful and abundant future thanks to the adoption of Bitcoin here. If you'd like to may your donation in bitcoin, send us a direct message and we'll deliver the address and QR code of our dedicated campaign wallet.

NEW PROJECTS

We've added House #16, which is a full renovation for what is currently there. We have the support of Bitcoin Beach for the labour team so we are funding for materials only ($595 USD). Our complete list is available by google sheets if you want to make a specific donation - we'll be buying wood, sheet laminate, cement, rebar, sand, nails, and paint. It's a very worthy project for an elderly man who has served the community over his entire life, but is now unable to repair his own house. Let's team up to help House #16!

OTHER CURRENT PROJECTS

Boogie-Boarder House #22 - This home needs a roof repair, a new section of flooring, and a front door. Thus far we've complete half of the floor. He is SO thrilled and grateful to have this help. This person lost his parents in the war, so it is especially important to help him get on his feet with the basic necessities.

Cistern Project #7 is very close to completion. All pipes have been routed, the cistern is built, and we are currently building the cement housing for the pump. Soon 19 families will have running WATER!!!

Sanitation Project #18 - 2 bathrooms are COMPLETE! This will bring good health to these families that have been without proper sanitation. New funds will be directed here : one more bathroom at a time : each one costs $680

Beltran House #15 - This was a beautiful collaboration with Aine Tucker from St. Dominics! We did a full paint job of the renovated walls this week, and the new roof passed the rain test during the last storm! We will complete this job by removing and recycling all of the leftover materials.

ZONTE YOGA FESTIVAL

We are thrilled to have partnered with the 2nd Annual ZONTE YOGA FESTIVAL, which was virtual this year. The whole Zonte Yoga community from both near and far participated together. If you are interested in purchasing access to the full festival links, make a donation and we will send you all zoom links via email. Make sure to include the words "Zonte Yoga Festival" in the comments during the donation process, and we will be in touch shortly.

EL ZONTE

El Zonte is a beautiful beach town on the coast of El Salvador. It's lovely people continue to be highly challenged by the economic shutdown, the massive tropical storm last June, and the looming threat of illness. We have had so many good times here over the years, enjoying the surf and the beaches. The kindness of the locals has been heart-warming in an ongoing way, and we'd like to give back during this unique period of need.

OUR GENESIS

During the quarantine, local organizations created food donation programs, which I had the fortune of being a part of. I was able to see, first hand, the direct benefit of even the smallest donations. We were able to purchase the basic necessities in bulk, stretching the dollars in a very efficient way.

Food donations were very effective at helping bridge the gap for families in need. Once people were back to work in early September, we transitioned our aid to provide building supplies. Many people still had roof damage from June's typhoon & could not afford to do any repairs.

BUILDING SUPPLIES

Between November 2020 and February 2021, we chose 5 local homes that needed a specific home repair. We visited each family, evaluated the materials required and created a photo description to share with our donors. We provided items such as : roof laminate pieces, cement, cement blocks, plastic tubing, and rebar. If it is clear that the family could not do the repair themselves, we arranged for a building crew to take care of the entire process.

As we grow and evolve, we are now creating projects that help multiple families in a cohesive fashion. For example, in Project #7 we are building a cistern and piping network that will provide water to more than 14 families.

We have teamed up with Jorge Venezuela (Bitcoin Beach) who are sponsoring the labour portion of several projects. This partnership has been a huge success as it enables us to employ 4-6 locals per month. This allows our main focus to be raising funds for MATERIALS. We do the purchasing ourselves and organize the deliveries through Pacifico Hardware. Even a small donation can make a mountain of difference for a family to repair their home.

Thank you for believing in us!!
