Humanitarian Development Relief – Focus Zimbabwe Cyclone Idai

Update posted by Alexander Leontakianakos On Apr 03, 2019

I had the privilege of being able to render relief at a site of the Cyclone's effect over the past 24 hours.

Thank you for your support. You cannot imagine the upliftment people who have been through utter devastation receive from the smallest amount. It is extremely humbling to witness and be part of.

Beira in Mozambique has had great help from its army to clear roads and it's airport has a large international aid community presense to help.

In Zimbabwe a place called Chigodora near Bvumba mountains has had access restored and is receiving help and is an area that did not get much attention. Homes in this area were swept away.

My focus is looking at getting portable solar units to homes when able.

Thank you for all support in all its forms.

Basic assistance is going out. Strong rebuilding for increasing future events is a long term focus.

Rivers are overflowing with water coming from mountains. More rain is forecast. Unconfirmed reports speak of many casualties. Hospitals are said to have two or more per bed. Entire roads and bridges in some areas have been washed away making access to the town of Chimanimani very limited but a new road has been opened from the town of Chipinge.

There is a high request for candles, blankets and food and water.

There are long term rebuilding process' ahead.

Thank you for your support.
