After struggling for many years, really most of my life, I was diagnosed with several autoimmune conditions that have complicated my life considerably, in 2008. The road to recovery or just management has been challenging to say the least. There are days (flares) when I cannot get out of bed. I thought I would need to quit my job and go on permanent disability until I discovered yoga in 2012, shortly after a 21/2 long flare. Yoga has been the only thing that has allowed me to continue living a life full of gratitude for everyday. With yoga, meditation, and breath work, my body is healing itself and my antibodies are down. I want to share these tools with the world and continue to heal my own body.
I have just completed my first 200hr yoga teacher training and I would like to continue with the 300hr, but due to extensive debt associated with medical bills, I cannot afford it. The program starts in September and will last 10 months. My goal with the program is to begin teaching yoga to all. However, I plan to focus on individuals over 40 with chronic medical conditions like, Lupus, Sjogren, Lyme, etc., creating a safe space for a healing journey. This training is for my healing as well as for others. This is a daily journey.
