Winter Woolies

                              WINTER WOOLIES 2014-2015   Last year I began a small campaign to collect hats, scarves and gloves to make into a 'Winter Woolies' pack (1 scarf, 1 hat, 1 pair of gloves). I personally handed out these packs on the streets of London to those sleeping rough and homeless. Collections were also given to local YMCA hostels for those in need. However... Once I started I realised the demand for such Woolies was far greater than I could provide. Furthermore, I found the items that were donated tended to be more geared towards females. Although every item was needed and put to good use I also had to be careful not to hand over items that may trigger unnecessary reactions from the public (e.g. a frilly pink scarf with flowers and butterfly's may not be appropriate for everybody). In hindsight I tried to make as many unisex sets as possible and used the more colourful and patterned donations to make sets that could be chosen over a plain set. Just to note: Every donation was greatly received. Before long I quickly found many more people in need and Winter Woolies were fast running out. Local donations off friends and family allowed me to keep purchasing items at a low cost and then that's when I realised that I needed to do something bigger and better in a bid to keeping many more heads and hands warm this winter. Thats where YOU come in to help! This funding page allows anybody from any part of the globe to donate as little or as much money that will go towards making as many Winter Woolies packs as possible this winter. I have found a great store that can provide the items I need at a very low cost. Just £3 will create a Winter Woolies pack that includes: 1 Thermostat (thermal insulated) hat 1 pair of Thermostat gloves 1 thick scarf  all 3 items are brand new which I then remove all tags for precaution and pack the items into a sealed clear plastic packet.  Imagine if everyone just contributed £3, wow, what a huge difference that could make in helping those in need keep warm this winter. But... Donations of old hats, scarves and gloves are still very much in need and appreciated. We are more than happy to take anything that will help others keep warm and don't forget that even just a single glove is helpful, it doesn't have to be a complete pair, every little helps it really does!  incase... You are not able to contribute financially or give a donation of items you can still help! We would be so grateful to anybody who can take the time to promote this cause and help spread the word to others. Whether it's by word of mouth, sticking up one of our posters in the local shop, posting a link to this page via social media sites or any other way you can think of encouraging others to help those most in need. You could also keep an eye out in your local area for anyone who may benefit from a WW pack and inform us. We will then try our best to reach anyone in need. This cause will run as long as it possibly can. Any extra donations left after the winter months have passed will either be used for the following winter, or, go towards a new Summer Sunnys campaign Which is currently under construction. SS will have the same aim to benefit those most in need but is directed at the summer months and what may be beneficial during the summer season.  We have developed a few rewards that are all optional in a bid to show both ours and the recipients gratitude towards you. These rewards also allow you to directly see where your donation has gone and who has benefitted.  I hope you can all appreciate how cold and wet our winters tend to be and what a difference some insulating gloves can make in them cold winter nights.  Winter Woolies does not discriminate on any basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, age, disability or race. Winter Woolies is strongly against any kind of discrimination and is absolutely 100% Aimed towards ANYONE who is in need of such items. Regardless of what walk of life a recipient may have come from. We pride ourselves in being absolutely non judgemental and believe that every cold head deserves a warm hat, simple as that. My my own father found himself struggling with drugs and alcohol and ended up being homeless himself. He did not want to be on the streets and felt helpless and unable to change his situation. That was until the Salvation Army stopped and gave him a helping hand. Just one simple act of kindness can make such a huge difference to one persons life. £3 may seem like nothing to you but to someone else it means not only a chance to keep a little warmer but also the chance to see that someone does care about them and that may just be the turning point in someones life. Winter Woolies wants to truly thank each and every one of you for all your contributions in whatever form they may be.
