Wessex Half Century in aid of Tanzania

This summer on the 2nd of July I am visiting Tanzania for 2 weeks as part of an annual school ran charity trip. For 4 days I will be helping to rebuild a local school as part of the "Raise a roof" campaign. Each member of the trip to Tanzania needs to raise £300 each in order to buy building materials for the school. The money raised will be used to directly by us to purchase the resources that we will be using to improve the school building. It will be a lot of hard manual labour for me, which could range from building desks, painting walls and installing blackboards. I’m sure it will be a tough and tiring week, but a very rewarding one too. Any excess money raised above the £300 will directly go to a nearby children’s orphanage we will be visiting on our trip.

In order to raise the money needed I am participating in a 50 mile bike ride with fellow students across Wessex on the 14th of June. I have kept this fundraiser open untill the 21st to allow donations to come in after the cycle itself. It will be hugely challenging bearing in mind I have never even tried riding a road bike before, let alone for 50 miles in one day!
