According to the UN, the current crisis will push 500 Million more people into poverty. 70 percent of the world's poor are women; rural women in developing countries are among the most disadvantaged groups on the planet.

ABOUT WOMANITY

Womanity aims fosters an inclusive world in which every girls and woman enjoy full rights and equal opportunities. Established in 2005, Womanity Foundation is a Swiss based registered non-profit organization which began working in Morocco, supporting girl domestic laborers to return to their families and attend school. In 2007 Womanity expanded into Afghanistan to work with one of the biggest girls’ school in Kabul, the Al-Fatah School for Girls. By 2008, the foundation underwent a fast growth with the launch of five new projects aimed at encouraging people in underprivileged areas, or from minority groups, to access education, training, and employment. During 2009 and 2010, Womanity’s key focus developed further with the launch of the WomenChangeMakers Fellowship and Radio Nisaa FM. Both initiatives were built upon the strategic decision to invest in social entrepreneurs who have the capacity to scale the positive impact they provide to women and girls. In 2012, the new name of The Womanity Foundation was officially adopted, and this expressed high determination and organization commitment towards the empowerment of women for the greater good of all humanity. Since then, the organization is investing in audacious solutions that accelerate sustainable social change. It has created the Womanity Award to address violence against women and WEMEAN Media to produce digital content that challenge gender stereotypes.
