As some of you may know I am going back to South Africa this summer. I am going back to volunteer in Masigcine Childrens Home where I volunteered last summer. I am hoping to raise some money for the kids and so Georgie and I are going to do a 15 mile walk. As both of us are pretty lazy these days, I think it will be a challenge! So your support would be very very much appreciated.
A bit about the home....
Masigcine's Childrens Home is located in a township called Mfuleni close to Cape Town. When I was there last, there was 23 children living there. The children are there for various reasons, some are orphans, some have parents with alcohol or drug problems and some have mothers that are too young and cannot look after them. They are all really lovely children (even when they are biting/punching each other) who deserve love and attention. And I'm hoping what we raise can make their lives just a little bit happier.
The home relies solely on charity and donations so at certain times their budget is tight. I want to be able to purchase some essentials like nutritious food, nappies etc. for the kids as well as hopefully take them on at least one day out. Many of the children, especially the older ones, rarely get to leave the home other than to go to school. I think it's important they get to do somethings that other children their age do.
And once again any kind of support is greatly appreciated.
