4 weeks volunteering in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka
Hi my name is Laura, I am a second year student studying Children's Nursing at The University of Nottingham. I am off to volunteer in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka, in April 2018. I will be there for 4 weeks, volunteering in various hospitals on the Paediatric wards, maternity units and in the emergency departments. This opportunity will enable me to work with various healthcare professionals from other countries and will widen my knowledge of the services they provide and the differences between their healthcare and our own.
I have chosen Sri Lanka to experience health care in a different setting and different cultures. We are going to be lucky enough to participate in one of the world's oldest medical systems; It originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The PMGY Foundation is a UK registered charity (1169415) that was set up to help provide financial aid and assistance to projects and countries.
If you would like to know more what we are going to do, visit Plan My Gap Year's Sri Lanka Medical Experience website page.
The aim of this fundraiser is to earn money to help pay for the experience but I will also be donating a proportion of the money to the hospitals in Sri Lanka.
Please help me help others.
