Volunteering in Sri Lanka

Hello,

My name is Thea, I'm 16 years old and in July 2017 I will be travelling to Sri Lanka with the company Plan My Gap Year.

Volunteering is something I’ve always enjoyed doing and I have worked for the last 2 years twice a week helping with a local disabled swimming program. I now want to develop my practical skills, test my self-discipline and push myself a little more, so I thought a volunteering adventure in another country would be not only an incredible experience for me, but give me the opportunity to give something back to those in need.

During my time in Sri Lanka I will be teaching children English, taking part in an important construction project and helping in elephant and turtle sanctuaries. All the work myself and other volunteers will be doing is essential in providing the communities in Sri Lanka with a better environment to live and learn in.

I am working hard to save the money to fund my trip but I could really do with some help. Any money I raise above what is needed to pay my actual costs I would like to be able to use while I'm there to buy supplies for the children I will be teaching.
