Hello everyone,

My name is Angela and I am currently a volunteer in Ecuador where I am teaching English in local high schools. Why is this important? Well, in order for students to be able to attend college or university, they have to reach a certain level of English proficiency (which can be difficult since many of the local teachers don't speak English very well themselves).

Now as a volunteer, I do get paid some money, but it is literally only enough to live off with no extra money to save or spend.

Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but I also have student loans that I have to pay while I am living abroad for the next 2.5 years. Unfortunately, my loans are private (not federal) and the bank refuses to defer or forgive my loans during my volunteer service abroad.

What does this mean? It means that I DO NOT have enough money to pay my loans. If I can't keep up with my loan payments, not only will my credit be ruined but it may also negatively affect my service abroad.

I would be extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how small, to help me pay off my student loans while I am abroad. There's no deadline, but I would really like to reach this amount by January 2018.

Thank you for your time and donations!
-Angela
