Campaign Story
Hello everybody
My name is PJ Leek and I’m an Athletic Disabled Veteran from Akron, Ohio.
2009 to 2011 I have been in and out VA Hospital, do to I had 5 surgery, 4 infection, and and a temperature of 102 or more every time I went into hospital for my left ankle. For little over 3 long year wasn’t able to do noting In 2012 I hear about Wheelchair Game for Disabled Veteran, I sign up for 32nd National Veteran Wheelchair Game in Richmond, West Virginia. I had a chance to go, but when I got there I had a blood clout in my leg and was hospitalized for two days and then send home. I had not been on a plane since I got of the Army in 1981 and flying on a plane gave me a blood clout.
This year 2013 is my first time competing in Disabled Veteran Wheelchair Games? In May at 2nd Annual Buckeye PVA Wheelchair Games, I came home with 6th First Place Metal for 50M Breaststroke, 100M Freestyle, Slalom, 200M Freestyle, 25M Breaststroke, 25M Backstroke, and 3x25 M IM.
June I was at 33rd National Veteran Wheelchair Game, I came home with 4 Gold Medals for 1st First in 100M Backstroke, 100M Breaststroke, 100M Freestyle, 100M 3x5 IM.
Aug I was at Valor Wheelchair Games Midwest, I came home with a Bronze Medal for Power lifting.
Wheelchair Games is my Fund Raiser for me to raise money for Equipment (Hand cycle, Air Gun, Compound Bow, est.) also a Trailer to transport all equipment in. I love competing in event for each games and swimming as you can see is my passion. I not able to work and on a fix income monthly, so I struggle to afford to pay for going to games, buying equipment and my expense. I do get some help from VA sponsor, but I have to buy my equipment. I can be seen on www.facebook.com/pj.leek Photo Album / Veteran Wheelchair games.
Thank You for your support
