It all started in 2016...
Since then I have been supporting the Rethabile Disabled Center in Acornhoek. The nearly 35 children, some of whom are severely disabled, mainly suffer from cerebral palsy, but also from other diseases that cause major learning disabilities. The center hardly receives any governmental support and in the last five years I have been helping more and more financially, to buy mainly food for the children, to pay for their transport and other needed things.
As most of you know, I went from being a "guide on safari" to a" farmer in the community" during the pandemic and supported with my NPO "Aka'ani" (www.akaani.org) several outreach projects in the local villages!
After the long travel break - which lasted exactly two years - friends of mine came on a very special safari this year! They finally wanted to travel again, but also do something useful and combine their vacation with something MEANINGFUL !!

"Leave
a footprint on your journey that helps others and brings you closer to
the country and it's people with all their facets - and in some way
changes everyone's life in the long run!"
Birgit, Elke, Paul, Kay and Leonie came as VOLUNTEERS ON SAFARI ...and with their financial support and man-power as volunteers, we where able to set up a shaded veggie patch at the Rethabile-Disabled-Center to ensure nutritious food for the children in the future.
But now we have a problem:
WE RUN OUT OF MONEY!!!
We still have almost two weeks left... but our budget is finished!
The soil of the veggie garden is prepared with manure and compost, the patch is cleared, shaded and protected against the African sun and against insects...
BUT we still need a small drip irrigation system and seeds and seedlings to finally plant veggies for the children of the disabled center.
Please support us with your financial help - and we can finish our project with our own MAN-POWER!!
More Information you can find on our website www.akaani.org and pictures and more videos on our "Aka'ani NPC" YouTube, Instagram and Facebook site .
We hope we can count on you!!!
