Vad’s Bday Fundraiser: Support a Dialysis Patient!

Hi friends and family!

For my 26th birthday, I ask that you help me help one indigent dialysis patient pay for one month's worth of treatment.

A dialysis patient needs up to 120 or more treatments in year, of which Philhealth only covers 90.

At some point, indigent patients will have difficilty covering the cost of their treatments. Including medicine, a month of treatment can cost up to P25,500 for one patient. When patients skip their treatments, their life expectancy gets shortened.

The nature of kidney disease makes dialysis patients highly vulnerable to complications of infection and other health threats. Even a single missed session can cause life-threatening buildup of fluid in their lungs and hearts. They are especially vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To be fully transparent, I work for a private dialysis center in Tuguegarao. This has made me aware of the difficulties a dialysis patient and their families face, most especially financial constraints.
