Dexter K began his DJ career at the age of 16, first messing around on the decks at his dads' club where he taught himself how to mix. Developing over the years an underground style, which has helped create quite a reputation for himself within the South African Dance industry. Since a young age he maintained a strong musical background, performing as a drummer in his youth band before succumbing to the infectious sound of House music. Dexter later moved on to BayFM 107.9, a well known radio station here in Port Elizabeth and thats where he stayed for 6 months. Once that era of his life was over he started getting into events and thats where our favourite DJ is today. As both promoter and DJ, Dexter has over the past seven years experienced the strengths and weaknesses of the Dance market firsthand and from this he has gained substantial knowledge and understanding of the South African House music scene. Thus giving him the ability to perform various forms of dance music, from Deep and Funky House to a more upbeat Jacking House. Having a passion for music all his life, Dexter has been inspired by Dance music and accredits his influences to DJs such as Armand Van Helden, Claude Von Stroke, Jesse Rose, John Digweed and Deep Dish. Within the last year Dexter’s DJ career has excelled considerably, taking him from Port Elizabeth to all over South Africa. National gigs include playing at St Yves (Cape Town), Coco (Cape Town), Shimmy Beach Club (Cape Town), Galaxy (Cape Town), Eclipse (Cape Town), Chevelle (Cape Town), Fashion TV (Cape Town), 1Twelve (Cape Town), Chrome (Cape Town), Casa Blanca (Cape Town), Deluxe (Cape Town), @Mospheer (Cape Town) , Cantina Tequila (Johannesburg), Roxys (Johannesburg), Aruba Lounge (Johannesburg), FTV (Johannesburg), Catwalk (Johannesburg), Vertigo (Boksburg), Ruby Blue (Johannesburg), Natural Groove - Sugar (JHB), Kong (Johannesburg), Vacca Matta (Johanesburg), Sway (Johannesburg), Equilibrium (Grahamstown), V.I.P (Plettenberg Bay), Sovereigns (Jeffrey’s Bay), Slipstream (UTH), Jubilee (UTH), Rhythm Divine (East London), Incognito Lounge (East London), Buccaneers (East London), 9 Miles (East London), also Port Elizabeth clubs such as Eataly, The Godfather Supreme, Lush, Groove Bar, The Vault, Mediterranean, Havana Blu, Cubana, Tarantinos, Sugarays, The Lighthouses, Captains, Coco De Mer, Gondwana, La Dee Das, 67 on 4th, Swagger, Atmosfera, News Café, FinnezZ, Balizza, BuzZ Bar, Escobar, Pixies, Moloko,Yarriva, Cubana, New Asia, Virtual Sports Bar , Stage 7 and XXX Treme.
