Urgent Life-Saving treatment for Rudi – PLEASE HELP

Rudi, our hero, and the hardest working man I know. Best dad to his 2 girls, aged 7 & 12, needs your help urgently.

Rudolph (Rudi) Nortjè, a 46 year old, struggling South African, left his family behind in SA on 10 June 2020, seeking the American dream. He worked as a H2A worker in Lebanon, Indiana USA, not for spending money, but to support us, his family here in SA. He was unexpectedly diagnosed with T3 Bladder Cancer on 4 August 2020, after the Transurethral resection of bladder tumors, to clear and dissect the tumors, which was done on 30 July 2020. It was discovered that his bladder was 60% full of cancer on the right inside, blocking the kidney pipe, and on the outer wall of the bladder, spreading fast. He was given a maximum 12 months to live. Rudi’s employer decided that he is unfit for work, and laid him off, without pay, nowhere to go, facing a huge surgery to save his life. On 14 August Rudi went for another CT Scan, as the bladder operation was scheduled for 21 August 2020. They discovered a 6 cm tumor on his lung. This tumor is pressing down on his right nerves and veins, and he is quickly loosing his right side. This has already spread to his eye. Daily he is loosing more and more strength.

Rudi took out Travel insurance before he left SA, which covered the Transurethral resection of bladder tumors, but the funds are almost dried up, and the insurance might not pay for the operation or just cover some. The life-saving operation is due within the next couple of weeks. Dr Gordon, urologist at Witham Health Services, Lebanon, is positive and working hard to save his life and has revered him to the capable hands of Dr Koch who will be replacing the bladder, by building him a new one. This is not available in SA, and we have no medical aid, and as going to a government hospital is not even an option. This was cancelled due to his current situation.

Rudi was declared fit to work again, but it is hard for him to find another contract for a week of two in the same area, for the operation will put him out for the next 6 weeks after, for recovery. On 14 August it was declared that Rudi cannot return to work anymore, as his condition has worsened. Rudi's visa will expire on 28 August. He has to return to South Africa for radiation and chemo immediately.

Today I am begging for any financial assistance to help fund his costly operation, as well as after care expenses, of which the costs are still unknown, but estimated around 60 000 US$(R1 039 200, depending on exchange rate) for the 2 operations only, the lung is of utmost importance at this stage. The cancer is extremely aggressive and growing fast. Doctor wanted to stop it before it enters the urine tube in the penis, for then, there is no hope, but now everything has changed. We aim to raise much more, as Rudi has to survive, and recover after surgery for 6 weeks, and also to assist his family, including myself (his wife) and his beautiful two girls financially, who are already so broken by Covid-19, and now this as well... This leaves our household without any income for the next 8-11 weeks.

Our biggest concern at this stage is to get him home, as he was declared a medical emergency. We don't have the 1800$ for his return flight on a repatriation flight. We also do not have enough funds to get him treated.

These two beautiful girls can’t lose their daddy. From a desperate father, husband, brother, son. “I came to live the American Dream, Now I ONLY WANT TO LIVE” Please help us to save a good man who only wants to work and give a better life for his family.
