Unexpected Emergency Relocation

Ey hello my name is Alexis! In late July of 2023, I inadvertently became a witness to a crime while looking for my oldest daughter in our neighborhood. Right outside my home! I'm here to ask for help for our emergency move. After weighing my options and speaking to police about possible safety options, I decided that for the THIRD time our safest option would be to pack up what little we could and leave our home. The day after we left, a family member who happened to be near my place called me to tell me that our home had been broken into. I called and filed a police report and met them at my apartment the following day. The window had been pushed in, there was beoken furniture everywhere, clothes strewn about, holes in my walls, my bedroom had been hit especially hard. Our beds were broken, tvs busted and more. I was devastated. I have uprooted my 4 children from everything that is familiar to them once again after working so hard to provide them with a sense of security and pride. A knowledge that they are loved and safe. Someone came, violated our home and our peace. We have been staying in a small 2 bedroom apartment with my mother while still trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. I work full time but I've still had to pay rent for the place we left on top of the regular bills for our home to make sure I'm not in violation of my lease on top of my car note so my children and i have transportation to and from work and school. All while trying to save money to move. My landlord has been absolutely no help. I was told to "Go home. Just make sure you keep your doors and windows locked."

I'm desperate to get my children somewhere far away from what they've been through and to help us return to a regular life. My kids shouldn't have to know what it feels like to fear for their lives while walking to their school bus stops. I shouldn't have had to put them in therapy to cope with this kind of situation. They are kids! I'm sad I couldn't protect us, but with a little help, I can get us to safety, security and soon maybe a little peace too.
