Uncle Mark's CookBook & Web Site For Single Dad's & Bachelors

This book & web site will contain good, easy, step by step recipes that I have accumulated and developed over the last ten years

Approx: ten years ago, I became divorced and gained custody of my two teenage sons. My cooking skills were very limited. After numerous complaints from them, I started accumulating and cooking good recipes. As Rachael Ray states in her book”30-Minute Meals” she is a cook,  not a chef. At this point in time, I consider myself to be the same.

Contained in this book are a collection of recipes that use common ingredients, are simple, easy to put together, and tasty. Some are borrowed recipes that I tweaked or originals.
Along with this book will be a corresponding web site.

I give suggestions as to what types of products to purchase along with brief product breakdowns.
Below is a sample recipe:

Mark’s Favorite Potato Recipe (Side Dish) / An Original
Types of potatoes
· Red Skin            Advantage -  No need to peal                                Disadvantage - Pricey

· Yukon Gold       Advantage  -  No need to peal/excellent flavor       Disadvantage - Pricey

· Regular Russet  Advantage - Inexpensive                                       Disadvantage– Need to Peel

(Serves 3 for one meal and left overs)
1. Four potatoes – cut into small to medium chunks * See Above
2. One large or two medium onions – coarsely chopped
3. One medium carrot – cut to medium pieces
4. Canola oil - enough to form a thin layer on the bottom of the frying pan. *See Below
5. Two tablespoon of butter
6. One cup of water
7. A couple of large dashes of McCormick’s “Salad Supreme/Perfect Pinch Line: - This is a must have / brand specific item. About four dollars at a full service supermarket / two-fifty at a discount market
8.  A large dash of pepper

First, coat the bottom of a large frying pan - with canola oil.
Second, add potatoes, carrots, and water / Start cooking over a medium flame-covered
Third, after about a minute, add onions – Don’t forget to stir and turn occasionally
Fourth, Add Salad Supreme, pepper seasoning, and butter
Fifth, continue to stir until slightly soft
Done
* Canola oil is one of the better cooking oils and reasonable priced.

Risks and challenges The first challenge is to organize the material in a logical, very easy to read, format.
Then, find a publisher and editor to take on the task. Then create a catchy cover and print the first edition. Along with this, create a corresponding web site.
One idea is to give cooking demonstrations at local events such as neighborhood function, local supermarkets, or rib burn off’s. This would cost money to do, but in my book I do mention specific brands such as McCormick spices or Campbell soups. I might be able to get them to help me with sponsorship in exchange for selling their products along with my book.
Target marketing of the book - I imagine the publisher would want sell as many copies as possible, thus having advertising and marketing ideas

Rewards

An autographed copy of the first edition. Also, if you send in a recipe, I will include this in the book with giving credit to the author.
