Campaign Story
I was diagnosed with a pituitary macroadenoma. This is a relatively small tumour located at the base of the brain right behind the optic nerve. Read more about my condition here : http://www.macmillan.org.uk/information-and-suppor...
It has unfortunately been affecting my life very negatively. I am unable to sleep, eat, constantly nauseous from the prescribed medications. I have bouts of depression, anxiety, and anger.
Unfortunately, I work as an independent contractor at my job so I don't have any type of benefits or insurance. I have tried to purchase my own personal insurance coverage, but because of my condition most companies refuse to insure me. All of my medication is paid out of pocket ($200-$250 per month) and on days when I have doctors appointments I don't get paid.
After visiting my doctor recently, she informed me that my recent blood work / MRI have shown that the size of the tumor has not improved, and if it continues to grow it could cause more life-threatening complications to me. She has told me that my next option is surgery. Since I do not have insurance (no medical benefits, no short-term or long-term disability) I am kind of stuck right now.
I am looking for funds to cover my basic bills and medical expenses while I will be recovering from ym surgery (1-3 months depending on how it goes). Once I return to work, if there are any funds left, I intend to donate what is remaining to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and God Bless You.
