Trying to save horribly NEGLECTED DOG!!

Last year we noticed our neighbors dog was being left alonefor days on end and was howling all night, so my husband went over to speak to him, and we agreed to care for the dog in their absence. Numerous times during 2016, he would bring the dog to us and on many occasions she got out of the yard on her own,and we would bring her in. One time Ihad her for 5 days before they even noticed she was missing, and another 6 before they actually came to pick her up. In Dec, they left for Christmas on the 24 th, and while I normally fed her what my dogs eat, she had diarrhea and i thought it best not to change her diet quickly, so the gate was openand i went into their yard to look for her food container, which he had brought to us many times. I was SHOCKED when i saw the conditions and her “shelter” so i took pictures and sent them to a local SPA to beg for help for her. Look at her living conditions, water bowl and Shelter????He was contacted, he was given 3 weeks to improve the conditions and he attackd me on Dec 31 st while i was out walking my dogs. He was not charged with anything, even though my partner heard me screaming and had to pull him away from me at our gate. The police refused to charge him because there were no “ witnesses “ and my partner “ might lie”?????????????? I however, have been charged with “Trespassing “ for entering the yard and taking pictures. I have had to hire a lawyer to defend myself and I live on a retirement income and this is huge for me to incur this expense!! Please help me so i can continue to rescue.I currently have 6 rescues from France, Romania and Bosnia and have 2 more coming in February.
