Trike for Harry

Harry is a happy, outgoing, determined, challenging, loving 11 year old boy. He loves to do all the things that any boy would, but he is restricted by severe physical disability caused by cerebral palsy. He uses a wheelchair full time, is unable to walk or even to sit or stand unsupported. His life is pretty restricted. We've always tried to make sure that Harry has the same opportunities and experiences as other children but as he gets bigger this is becoming more of a challenge. We can no longer go to the park or soft play as I can no longer lift him out of his chair onto equipment; we can no longer go swimming as i cant support him in the pool or manage with the changing facilities; we have to avoid many activities where we know there will be something other children are doing that he wont be able to,as it is so upsetting for him. We were surprised when we were at the Mobility Roadshow and he was invited to go on a Freedom Discovery trike, we didn't think for a moment that it would be suitable for him. However he wanted to try so he was supported in the seat, strapped in and it was all height adjusted for him and incredibly he just knew what to do....off he went! Despite weak leg muscles, poor coordination and balance he was pedaling off! The look of sheer joy on his face from experiencing such freedom was beautiful and there wasn't a dry eye in the house! " We must get him one" was our first reaction, until we asked the price! £3500 is such a lot of money to find as we are also having to buy him a new wheelchair. That is why we are turning to you for help, if yu could donate whatever you can it would go towards giving our amazing little boy the freedom, fun, exercise and joy that he deserves.
