My name is Ilze Adamson.
I have trigeminal neuralgia for 17 years now. Everybody gets in a different way. My trigeminal neuralgia was caused due to a very very hard blow to the side of my face by my ex husband. I have to take 8 tablets of degranol per day in order to try and maintain this pain. And it is not always possible. Trigeminal is also called the Suicide Disease. Why TN is considered the " Suicide Disease" Of all the pain conditions that chronic pain patients experience, there are arguably none worse than the pain of TN, Often called the "Suicide disease" because of the intense pain, and links to higher rates of depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. TN is a pain that spreads over the face and down the neck, triggered by even the slightest breath of wind across the face. This condition is commonly misdiagnosed. It's important to understand what it is, common symptoms, how it's diagnosed, and TN treatment that may work. Because of the TN, i am unable to work. I have an awesome partner who is working, and looking after me, also being very supportive. We cannot afford medical aid at this moment, But we are working towards that goal.
Every day i have to live with this pain, my life is not the same, i cannot go out like a normal person does. There are days where i cannot eat due to the pain being so extreme.
