Transportation for Medical Care

I created this Campaign because my older sister has severe medical issues that have left her permanently disabled.  Due to circumstances beyond her control, she is in need of a reliable car that will get her to and from her many medical appointments, and allow her to visit her family who live over three hours away.  This past summer, her van was stolen.  A police report was filed, but it has not been recovered yet.  She was told it would more than likely never be found, and this leaves her in a position of not being able to afford buying a new one, which makes things very difficult for her.  Liz has many medical appointments that she needs to be able to get to in order to keep herself healthy and free of discomfort and pain.  Her primary doctor, chiropractor, and several specialists are mainly local, but some are out of town.  Since the theft of her main transportation, she has not been able to make many of these appointments.  She is overdue for many important medical tests and procedures.  In addition to the doctor visits, she is on a very strict diet that requires shopping at stores that are over an hour away from her home since most grocers do not carry the types of foods she can safely eat.  Due to her complex medical issues and extreme sensitivities, she cannot use the city bus system, nor can she afford to take a taxi every time she needs to leave her home.

I really believe that my sister should receive some help with buying a reliable car.  She is not the type of person to ask for help and, quite frankly, she is usually the person "doing the helping" for others.  There are some days when she doesn't leave her home, because she is simply in too much pain.  When she does feel well enough, she works with immigrant families - teaching them English, assisting them with job applications, tutoring and helping to locate community resources specific to their unique needs.  She spends so much of her spare time helping other people - this is why I feel she really deserves to have people help her now - because she would never ask of this for herself!  She does so much for so many people at the expense of herself . . . and did I mention she volunteers for a non-profit organization that she helped establish over 12 years ago?
