A devastating fire has completely destroyed the home of Kimmy and Robert Johnson (a disabled veteran with PTSD) who live in Combs Arkansas. Our hearts ache for them. We believe the fire may have either been an electrical issue or their woodstove pipe. This is a very small populated area with the county being one of the poorest in the state. So little to no funding or non-profit foundations are available in this area. Unfortunately, they did not have insurance either.

They were ready for bed when the fire started. They were very lucky to have been blessed to have a little bit of time to throw water on a door to get out while their home was engulfed in flames and smoke. They made it out in below freezing temperature in their pajamas 's with no shoes or coats. The home was a generational home passed down. Kimmie's father had passed away last year and his ashes were also in the house. We looked around until almost 1 am in the dark, over a large area of forest, hoping to find their fur babies. We believe their four beloved Chihuahua's did not make it out of the house as they were never found. All that is left of their life and home is a partial concrete foundation. Everything is gone, including their holiday gifts.

Again, they lost everything, including their ID's with very little money saved. They are in need of all the basic life essentials- food, water, hairbrush, toothbrush and most certainly clothing. Then they will need to rebuild everything.

Kimmie had bought a trailer for her son, his wife and child to live in on the property. Kimmie and Robert are staying there for now. Her son picks up odd jobs where he can since he has autism. Her grandson also has autism. Their trailer furnace is not functioning. Money raised would also go to help put (Or fix) a reliable source of heat in the trailer they are staying in until they get a new home, somehow. It is getting cold this time of year and we hope people's generosity will help them be able to take steps to fix the heating issue, water, and basic needs.

It's a small community here so any help from anyone is greatly appreciated!

Community Help needed

Update posted by Stacey Mallory at 06:17 pm

The Johnson's are still trying to get some type of used mobile home etc. If you haven't already, please share this post so we can try to raise money for this family. It may seem like a lot of money, but it is not nearly enough (as we have found. . . . .

The Johnson's have gotten some basic needs met and a few outfits. Still no heat or good leads to a new home. We are still working on it. It's unfortunate so many people are in need and it didn't help that some service won't help because our county doesn't donate
