I have decided to help make a change by becoming a UN volunteer in partnership with the Wamulu International, a NGO based in Kenya, to tackle the issue on poverty by promoting and supporting children’s education. My role, although small in scope, but nonetheless impactful, is to spread the word of the children from Bungoma, a western county close to the Ugandan-Kenyan border. This effort means a great deal to me because it upholds my belief, in which education can be used as a powerful force to escape poverty, and who not better to support to break the cycles of poverty than the youth. This year for my birthday, I am asking my family, friends, and every one that I have encountered in my life to make a donation. Your funding, however much you offer, will be used to provide material support for the children’s schooling, such as, food to give energy for the children to last the day, uniforms and shoes for the children to feel proud and excited for things to come, and school supplies to be attentive and prepared in the classroom.
I truly believe that with everyone’s support we will help make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. In the words of Gandhi, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny,” and I believe the destiny for all of us can be to make this world a better home.
I have also created a short video for everyone to watch and enjoy (Please don’t be too harsh with my video editing skills!). Thank you in advance for all your support and kindness <3
