Campaign Story
Toast Food Co. - Your corner café
Toast Food Co. like many other small businesses in SA are facing similar (if not the same) challenges. This decision lock down for 21 days, although difficult, we fully endorse.
In order to ensure the success (and growth) of this beautiful country that we all call home, COVID-19 needs to be dealt with.
For us to cope with the drastic decline in trade we are calling on all of our clientele (that's you) for help. Even if you have never been to Toast, and you are feeling generous-please feel free to also donate.
Imagine that you weren't able to get your favourite breakfast anymore...or coffee! We CANNOT let this happen.
We have done some math and have calculated a way in which YOU can ensure that we are able to continue with trade.
We figure that if you (a fairly regular customer) was to donate R50 per week for three weeks (the lockdown period) we could potentially raise the funds to keep Toast open. In total we hope to, at very least, raise R150 per person during the lockdown.
R50 every week is like buying a coffee and muffin, once a week.
You might be asking, where will my money go? Good question!
Expenditure breakdown:
- All funds are first and foremost geared at paying staff. If the working class of SA crumbles, we're all in for a surprise.
- Once staff are provided for, we will slowly and surely pay off our suppliers, which have over extended themselves to ensure we have stock. It's important to not that our suppliers assisted in relief packages, which have been handed out to our staff already.
- Assuming we acquire the necessary funds to tackle the points 1 & 2, we will then deal with rent - which are are hoping is reduced.
- This might sound odd, but I feel that it is important that everyone who donates (any sum of money) is acknowledged. If/when we get through this and are back in business, we will be making a commemorative plaque paying tribute to those kind enough to have donated.
Milestones:
Tipping Point (R30 000):
If we get to this amount we are able to ensure that all staff get paid for April and that some supplier debts are settled. To recap:
1. All staff get their FULL salaries for April
2. Roughly 20% of supplier debts are settled
Reaching this goal may give us an opportunity for survival, at very least it will buy us some time to "restart the engine" that is Toast.
Dream Funding Goal (R90 000)
To reach this milestone would be phenomenal. We will easily be able to settle all outstanding debts we have and fairly easily move into the second half of 2020. To recap:
1. Staff wages are ensured pretty up until June 2020, after which (assuming we are trading again in April 2020) we should be up and running and can rely on the trade from the shop to pay salaries.
(It's worth noting, that the reason we need to ensure staff receive full salaries is that their families depend on it. The knockoff effect of reduced salaries for our staff are vast)
2. Supplier costs can easily be settled, and we can continue to order as per usual without the looming debt.
3. Only (and only if) we reach this milestone will we start paying our outstanding rent - which we hope might be reduced by this point
If you have any questions (anything!), or perhaps would like to assist in other ways, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
