Hello, my name is Gregory and I am a graduate student at Central Washington University working towards a Masters degree in Primate Behavior and Ecology. In order to be granted my degree, I need to complete a in-depth thesis project. I have chosen to conduct research on Tibetan Macaques in Mt. Huangshan, China. I will travel there at the end of July and will stay there for two months. While there, I will be collecting data on the collective decision-making process of two troops (e.g., YA1 and YA2) with special emphasis on female leadership during collective movements. Supplemental data (e.g., proximity, aggression, etc.) will be collected in order to create a sociogram and conduct a social network analysis. The data will reveal which females are making the decisions and the connections they have to other group members. I hope to present results showcasing the importance of social connectivity on leadership and collective decision-making in this species. I can provide more information on the research upon request.
I have started saving up money for this trip so that I will be able to fully experience the country while I am there and also participate in all aspects of the research project. This is where you all come in. I would appreciate any donation to help me for this trip of a lifetime. Any amount that you would feel comfortable donating is greatly appreciated, as no amount is too small. Thank you in advance for your kindness and I cannot wait to come back and share my experiences with all of you.
