Thousands of Ecuadorians live in harsh conditions. Families that live in extreme poverty lack access to decent schools, education, and nutrition. I am going to Ecuador to help Community Development by working on a range of initiatives in support of the local community. As a volunteer on this project, I will assist with a school meal support program that provides nourishment to underprivileged children, maintaining community gardens, and maintaining, cleaning, and renovating local schools, community centers and playgrounds. This project also conducts community workshops on topics like nonviolence, women's empowerment, public health, and dental hygiene. I will also have opportunities to interact with and teach underprivileged children.
